THE CHILDREN'S INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AWARD
"CRYSTAL NOTE"

In October 23rd 1996 Miami, Florida, USA Presentation of «Crystal Note» Children's International Music Award took place. This joint American-Russian project of children's art which currently has no analogue in the world is aimed at revealing of gifted 14 to 20 year-old pop music performers all over the world for assisting them in getting of professional training and further artistic development. By the size of aims and tasks set the competition can be compared to such a famous American National Pop Music Award as «Grammy».

The first ceremony of «Crystal Note» Children's International Music Award in the State Kremlin Palace ran from the 23rd of August till the 3rd of September in the framework of the 850th Anniversary of the Russian capital of Moscow. 38 young gifted performers from 12 countries of the world such as Australia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Malta, Georgia, Israel, the USA, Finland, Byelorussia competed for the highest awards of the competition. The competition comprising two rounds was given in the nominations of «vocal», «saxophone» and «piano».

Prize money fund for «Crystal Note-97» made $100 000. However, unlike other International Artistic contests the awards here were provided as scholarships (grants) for getting professional education, phonogram record, clips shooting or costumes' buying. World community and cultural workers paid great attention to this unique artistic project.

Official delegation of Florida led by the Secretary of State Sandra Mortham arrived at Moscow for the opening ceremony of «Crystal Note-97». The member of the Democratic Party of the USA Gwen Berlin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel in Russia were present as official guests of the competition.

The President of Russian Federation Boris Eltsin and the President of the USA Bill Clinton sent their best warm greetings to the guests and participants of the competition.
